Animal welfare: A high time for action

In a world where relationships between humans and animals are getting more interdependent, there are emerging pressing demands to ensure optimal animal welfare.

Domestic and wildlife animals have their importance in the contexts in which they live.  China started to hunt sparrows because of anticipation of the harvest being harmed. Later they realized that many birds there were an essential part of the pollination process for the plants. The entire ecosystem works in an integrated way where animals play a crucial role in it.

Despite the inescapable position of animals in the ecosystem, the apparent reality shows that animals nowadays do not have their fundamental rights. Every being on the planet playing an important role in human existence must be preserved for our own sake. When they can’t get substantial food and a place to live, it can have some catastrophic consequences for the ecosystem. There are a lot of legal frameworks that have already been established.

The Many Faces of Animal Abuse

The cruelty towards animals can have a variety of ways. The Act enumerates different variants of cruelty to animals under Section 11 as the following actions:

  1. a) Beating, kicking, overriding, overloading, torturing and causing unnecessary pain to any animal.
  2. b) Using an old or injured or unfit animal for work (the punishment applies to the owner as well as the user).
  3. c) Administering an injurious drug/medicine to any animal.
  4. d) Carrying an animal in any vehicle in a way that causes it pain and discomfort.
  5. e) Keeping any animal in a cage where it doesn’t have a reasonable opportunity for movement.
  6. f) Keeping an animal on an unreasonably heavy or short chain for an unreasonable period.
  7. g) Keeping an animal in total and habitual confinement with no reasonable opportunity to exercise.
  8. h) Being an owner failing to provide the animal with sufficient food, drink or shelter.
  9. i) Abandoning an animal without reasonable cause.
  10. j) Willfully permitting an owned animal to roam on streets or leaving it on the streets to die of disease, old age or disability.
  11. k) Offering for sale an animal that is suffering pain due to mutilation, starvation, thirst, overcrowding or other ill-treatment.
  12. l) Mutilating or killing animals through cruel manners such as using strychnine injections.
  13. m) Using an animal as bait for another animal solely for entertainment.
  14. n) Organizing, keeping, using or managing any place for animal fighting.
  15. o) Shooting an animal when it is released from captivity for such purpose.

However, despite of presence of law, the continuous humiliation of animals is quite apparent in Indian society. Digs being the victims of cracker attacks during the festival of Diwali are quite common nowadays. The sound, light, and air pollution for which humans are mostly responsible, are making animals and birds the victims of it. Thus it is high time that we move toward an animal-friendly environment through a variety of ways.

The Plight of Animals: Common Issues

Animals can have a variety of issues that never remain in the limelight. These issues are mainly responsible for the intense plight of animals in this present era. The problems can include:-

Lack of available shelter:

Domestic animals such as dogs, cows and buffaloes can easily be witnessed lying naked on the roads. In an era where Delhi faces 50 degrees of summers and 20 degrees of winters, these extreme temperatures became a sin for shelter-less animals. This is also with cases of stray dogs where they continue to suffer by witnessing the pets enjoying themselves in their drawing rooms. Deforestation also leads to the loss of habitats of a lot of wild animals.

Humiliation

Animals are the most genuine victims of humiliation by humans. Suffering crackers and stones and tolerating harassment are accepted as a common phenomenon for animals. 20,000 deliberate and cruel crimes against animals have occurred in India in the last ten years, according to FIAPO research. This indicates that five stray animals are violently killed per day on average. According to the analysis, the actual number may be at least ten times higher, meaning that 50 animals die every day and that two creatures are killed needlessly in our nation on average every hour.

Pollution and waste

A significant amount of pollution in the nation affects the livelihood of animals phenomenally.  Plastics when consumed by cattle can cause cancerous diseases and injuries to the internal organs of the animals. Sound pollution can affect normal mental conditions and create an achy environment for them.

Roadmap Ahead: Securing Animal Protection

  1. Stringent laws: The government must execute the punishments involved in violation of laws securing animals’ rights in India. Although words are there people find it very easy to exploit any animal there. Thus, we require stringent laws to secure animals from cases of harassment.
  2. Animal habitats:- We can create special animal habitats specially for street animals. This can help them to deal with extreme climatic conditions.
  3. adoption promotion:- We can adopt domestic animals such as dogs and cats from the streets. Street dogs are well trained to protect themselves in this region and thus are a viable option to be pets.
  4. Increasing veterinary hospitals:- There are just 10611 veterinary hospitals which is too low for the treatment of lakhs of animals. Thus we need many more animal hospitals to ensure their better health

Thus, in a nutshell, we shall conclude that a society that advocates ‘ahimsa’ and ‘vasudhaiv kutumbakam’ as its morals, must ensure a dignified position for animals in this society. Once every component of the ecosystem is balanced, then only we can ensure good and healthy human survival.

ABSTRACT:

“Morality is not proper. The doctrine of how we make ourselves happy, but it is about how we make ourselves worthy of happiness. It is the sign of what is good in the society of mankind.”

As said by one of the most famous philosophers who has prominently worked in the field of morality and ethics of the domain of philosophy.
The morality like a living document has evolved and significantly developed in the following ways. When we talk about the level of runic, we hear the moral agents. Actions are ethical when they are directed towards the holistic fulfillment of the fundamental needs of an agent. Let us say in the case of, the wanderers and the traveler who used to travel from one place to another in search of food shelter. Those people’s basic necessities were edible items and a dedicated place for resting their bodies. If those things along with the agricultural needs are satisfied, they used to dwell in that particular habitat , once they had witnessed a sudden significant uprooting of such entities from that particular area, they used to move to some other place . If the actions which are duly performed by any agent satisfies the basic requirement of an agent, then those actions are considered to be moral by nature. In the case of the traveler. If he or she is able to successfully find the place that is best suited as per their preferences and priorities for which they are looking for then those particular actions, the means of attaining those particular goals. All of these things are nothing but moral by nature.

However, we must remember that such type of morality was found during the earlier times in primitive society because during the time of conception of civilization, the social norms were not fully formulated. Whatever crunched the thirst of a man’s need became the law of the land and the code of morality followed this and it developed through such grooves only we must be aware of the fact that morality was shorthand for approaching the intrinsic requirement. This way of action is found suitable in all animals. Why is it so if you ask this question we can successfully answer this by stating the very fact that for those animals they need to find flash or any other edible entity to consume And the means to attain this particular objective is considered to be in the category of ethical action provided they are in possession of such an entity which could be easily decomposed consumed and digested by these animals or in the primitive cases of the traveler.

INTRODUCTION:
In the domain of ethics, we have on one side moral acts that subscribe to morality and principles. Then we have immoral acts where the said acts are not in conformity with the moral quotes of that particular period. But in the case of animals as mentioned above, we find a peculiar way of categorizing them as moral actions. Such actions are followed outside the very periphery of the moral or immoral dichotomies, very small children, the infant tribal, primitive community group members are also following in this particular line of immoral acts simply because these people are either not possessing the consigns, the required wisdom or the necessary rationality in order to take those rational measures to grapple the ultimate objective, which they have their eyes on .

But later, after all, these stages, man found entangled in the threats of religion, culture, and tradition, and it gave birth to the second level of morality, which is called as the level of customs, Sorean Kierkegaard has excessively wrote about this (but in opposition of this trend) what happens in this particular level of morality is very easy to understand the society. The cultural laws. All of these particular faces are heavily deliberating about what is right and what is ethical. Our religious quotes and customary traditions are acting as the commandments which are making the foundational basis for the moral behavior that is following in the category of ethical court of this particular timeframe. The culture from which we are, Is the provider of a social identity to a particular individual in this particular culture in turn is also responsible for providing us with the foundational stone for determining the ethical morality and virtue in a particular action or behavior. In order to make this thing a little more easy, we can take examples of various world religions that are being practiced. They have various books, prescriptions, symbols, rituals, and cultural practices. All of those things are having commandments or orders that are revealed by the divine timeless mind that is maintaining the social order in this universe, which is very efficiently described by the moral argument that proves the existence of God in this cosmological affair.

MAIN BODY:
In this particular case, we can see very carefully and very easily. The very fact that religion is the ultimate determining and declaring force behind what is ethical. Our culture is the declaring force behind what is moral. Our traditions. Our religious prescriptions are nothing but a clear testament of what is falling in the category of being virtuous, and what is distant of being ethical in the social set up of this particular universe, the man found religion as a means of holding himself uptight, and in turn, gave quotes to follow whether it were the sermons or the testament morality was everything done according to them because moral and that which is non-affirmative or not in conformity with the religious Scriptures becomes immoral as we have already understood this particular idea from the above mentioned lines . A person who is born into a particular religious group is bound or rather compelled to follow the courts prescribed by that particular culture and that is a part of the person’s social identity. Being born in a particular religious group is not a matter of choice. We do not have to pass any examination to be born into a particular cultural tribe. The prescriptions that are being decorated and disseminated by the religion, are considered to be ultimate and supreme in nature .

They form the part of a person ascribed identity. The identity that has nothing to do with in order to achieve this particular goal. They are simply applied to a person by birth. It is here that we found the seed of conventional customer morality because a man no longer satisfies the needs and whose medium becomes the guiding stone for morality, but now the man looks up to the religion and the Almighty for defining the concept of moral virtue. In this level, what is supposed to be done and what is being done or not is different because whatever is exercised is what needs to be done and it is the step that becomes the way of building upon what is to be done. Moral-ness is guided by customs in this manner, in order to understand this particular idea. We can further break this down in simple words by mentioning the very point that the things that are done generally normally in this particular particular society in different cultural groups are only those things that have been prescribed by that particular religious group to be categorized as doable moral because whatever is being performed is nothing but moral since only moral actions are allowed in a particular religion to be exercised and practiced. So whatever is being done is generally accepted or tended to be understood as something that is moral, that is something that has been prescribed or advised by that particular religious authority to be exercised in a particular society. This is how customer morality, the morality that is being derived from the customs from the religion, is shaped and understood. From reflective morality, earlier we were having the customer stage of morality.

There is always the scope of betterment because rising. It opens many doors of change of development of new thought and progress in ideas. This has been well understood in the moral development that has led the way for another level of morality, which is generally called the level of conscience. Earlier we refer to religion or instinctual sensational requirements of a particular human being in order to determine what is right and what is wrong. But in this level of cons, we find reflective morality in the level of instinct. We are not using the set faculties, but rather we are similarly trying to fulfill our instinctual needs or the requirements of our sense organs or near material requirements, their and justifies the means and in conventional morality, we looked upon the religion to dictate the quotes of virtuous, prescriptions until we found the ability to reflect upon the conventions to question upon and to demonstrate scientifically .

CRITICAL ANALYSIS:
Earlier we were blindly following the conventional religious texts, but now in this level, the agent finds some customs were useful which no longer are helpful in the present day context, that is, they are no longer fulfilling the purpose that it originally fulfilled. Now the moral judgment has tended to deal with inner causes of action rather than apparently outward and conduct. Views reason, views are intellect views. The wisdom which we have those things are prioritized given more weightage and is provided with a higher pedestal. In order to determine what is moral is also the question that is taken care of by our intellect by our reflective capacity by our critical thinking. This is the primary reason why the hotel had rightfully called us the rational agents because if you just call a person rational, there are chances that he is having the reason he applied that reason in order to determine a particular answer but when you call someone rational agent that means you know what is right.

CONCLUSION:
In conclusion, we can very significantly mention this point that the conflicted quotes may become supreme, natural laws, and when a man chooses from them, he is essentially free being indulged in a rational thinking and he applies his consigns. The choice of a person is not influenced by cultural groups or any, physical or sexual requirement of the selfish nature of the human, but rather they are consciously crafted material from mental consciousness from reason from logical thinking, those areas where emotions, religion requirements pertaining to our sense, organs or likeness of the taste are not given priority. here, the faculties of mind are devoted in the Direction where you are forced to think whether what you did was actually right, whether the behavior you opted to choose in the particular circumstances was actually appropriate or whether it’s alter or opposite behavior to what you have exhibited, would have been a better course of action to be induced in search, given circumstances. Reflective morality is very important, essential and relevant. By this, we have come to the end of this Article.

ABSTRACT:
The most important discussion that what exactly the Western philosophers before the time of René Descartes Believed exactly the essential constituents of the entity that is called religion; this is the Specific particular, and the most important institution that has substantially influenced human society as well as the significant surroundings of a man in general. It becomes imperative to completely grasp the meaning of this particular term to understand its characteristics and galvanize a series about its nature so that we can assert in a better sense, reflect critically about this particular institution that is essential for humankind and customs.

INTRODUCTION:
If you are to start by the very word that is religion, it is stemming from the root word that is “Relegare” And this roughly means to bind here, we are talking about the act of binding a human being to the almighty- the God Who is omniscient, omnipotent, eternal, infinite, and omnipresent. Now, The divine and endless mind that is God by the virtue of religion. It could be emphatically stated that we are weaving, in a chain which is unbreakable, and that chain is connected to God himself. But if we talk about the additional definition that could be rendered to the idea of religion, it could come from the fact that it is binding a particular human being to another fellow human being. The relationship that has been established between these manifestations is a relationship that is harmonious, cooperative and significant, this is what it truly means to be religious in particular, and what is religion in general terms. Customs here, play pivotal role.
This face of religion is also possessing certain essential characteristics that determine the true nature and the essence of religion within its deep fragments. Those words are not just entities that are spoken in order to enforce rules, but rather it is a systematic pattern of proclamatory commandments that are there intact in place in order to console help as well as nurture the human beings on one hand and the society on the other hand.

MAIN BODY:
Religion must possess certain qualities such as the possession of a specific supernatural entity. There are various religions in the world and there are a plethora of followers of those particular religions. If we try to have a microscopic analysis of the world religion, we will be able to declare it very efficiently. The very fact that each and every religion is possessing a concept pertaining to a divine entity that they either call as God supreme being or by any other name pertaining to the Almighty. Then they are also having faith as well as a subjective commitment towards God, which is unwavering and is placed at a very high pedestal as compared to anything in their lives. People have a very high level of belief, trust, as well as faith in the supreme mind with which they intend to bind themselves.

Then we come across another face, it of religion that is having certain symbols, rituals, and rites; these practices and exercises that stem from the traditional roots of the customary morality are of tremendous importance for any as well as every religion being practiced in this universe, whether that religion is a Cosmopolitan or a tribal one, they have certain religious exercises, certain rituals that are either performed on consecutive days, or there are specific days that are particularly marked for the initiation as well as commencement of certain practices that are placed at a very high pedestal in any religion, the theologians have placed a very essential role here by providing the solutions for the negative inconsistencies that have been adequately highlighted by people who are in opposition to the religion. People from the theological side are of the opinion that these practices in every religion are an integral constituent unit of that particular belief system as well as, they are to be considered acknowledged and regarded with highest esteem possible .

We can also add another characteristic of religion, which is having reverence towards the Deity, in the Indian conceptualization, the reverence is to be interpreted in the sense of a deep Shrādha-Bhāva for Iśvãra, This concept has been evidently highlighted in the vedantic concept promulgated by Rāmanujacãṛya of Sāgūna Brāhṁa– which could be interpreted as the qualified entity who is possessing a specific and a particular form, which is in stark opposition to the formless ultimate reality that has been eloquently reiterated by Sḥankaraċãrya.

CONCLUSION:
“You are crying?” asked Yadava Prakasha. “What’s wrong with you?”
Ramanuja fearlessly yet humbly replied, “Dear Gurudeva, your interpretations of this verse are not only insensitive to God but also wrong.”
Outraged by Ramanuja’s response, Yadava Prakasha challenged, “You arrogant fool; you think you are better than your own spiritual master?
Ramanuja hung his head low.
The guru roared, “Let me see if you can offer a more cogent description.”
Ramanuja replied, “The verse says that Lord Vishnu’s eyes are kapyasam, and you translated the word literally, where kapi means a monkey and asam means buttocks. But this smacks of your insensitivity, because scriptures offer poetic descriptions of the Lord’s beauty. When you understand this mood, you will see the word differently. Therefore to say that the Lord’s eyes are like kapyasam means they are like the beautiful petals of a lotus.”
Above mentioned is the prasanga from the life of shri Ramanuja which effervescently explains the existence of god and thereby the ultimate fountainhead of religion.

In the words of Herbert who identified five “articles” or “elements” that he proposed were found in every religion, which he called the Common Notions, namely: the beliefs that there is a supreme deity, this deity should be worshiped, the most important part of religious practice is the cultivation of virtue, one should seek repentance for wrong-doing, and one is rewarded or punished in this life and the next.
This forms the fundamental basis for every world religion found in this corporeal world. There could be two definitions for religion, each of it has a different purpose to serve and they are also helping to better grapple with the concept of religion covering larger sections of different societies, such as Jainism, Buddhism, etc.. In the substantive form, we are focusing over the belief concept of the religious content, we are stressing over the religious god, the mental consciousness which stands in affirmative of the motion that one must have belief in the omnipotent: all powerful and all knowledgeable god. And on the other hand, we have the functional aspect which specifically lays a crucial eye towards the functions, mechanisms and the relative effects the religion has over the people and in the society. This holistically concludes the concept of religion.
