Bollywood, the Hindi film business based in Mumbai, India, is more than simply films; it is a cultural phenomenon that pervades all aspects of Indian society, including fashion. Bollywood, with its larger-than-life stars, elaborate sets, and dazzling costumes, has a tremendous impact on Indian and global fashion trends. Let’s take a look at Bollywood’s tremendous influence on fashion, from iconic outfits that have become cultural touchstones to the dynamic connection between movies and style.

Bollywood’s status as a cultural force transcends geographical limits, with its influence extending well beyond the borders of India. The global appeal of Bollywood films has resulted in a large international fan base, with audiences in nations ranging from the United States and the United Kingdom to the Middle East and Southeast Asia. As a result, Bollywood artists have become global icons, valued not only for their acting abilities but also for their fashion sense. Bollywood has evolved over time, reflecting changing tastes, values, and aspirations, from the Golden Age of Indian cinema in the 1950s and 1960s to the current period of blockbuster hits and global recognition. In addition to its storytelling prowess, Bollywood has evolved as a fashion trendsetter, with performers becoming style icons and their on-screen outfits influencing fashion choices across the country.

Iconic Looks

Iconic Saris that Stole the Spotlight

Over the years, Bollywood has created numerous classic looks and fashion moments that have made a lasting impact on pop culture. These moments are more than just what the stars wear; they signify cultural transformations, societal values, and cinematic brilliance that fans will remember for centuries. The ageless elegance of Madhubala’s Anarkali dress in “Mughal-e-Azam” represents the enduring appeal of romance and tragedy in Indian cinema. Similarly, the rebellious charm of Amitabh Bachchan’s bell-bottoms in “Don” represents the 1970s trend, with its combination of ruggedness and anti-authoritarian attitude. Furthermore, the 1990s saw a spike in fashion trends, with actresses like Madhuri Dixit and Karishma Kapoor setting the stage on fire with their colorful chiffon sarees and statement jewelry, evoking the spirit of youthful enthusiasm and romantic imagination.

Bollywood’s influence on fashion extends beyond the movie screen, to the red carpet and prestigious fashion shows. The red carpet has evolved into a stage for Bollywood stars to display their fashion choices and make statements that attract people worldwide. Events celebrate not just cinematic achievement but also high fashion and glamour. Celebrities rigorously curate their outfits for these occasions, collaborating with stylists and designers to produce unique outfits that command attention and receive praise from both fashion critics and fans.

Red Carpets and Fashion Weeks

Bollywood’s participation in major fashion weeks strengthens its influence on the global fashion scene. Celebrities frequently sit in the front rows of fashion shows as valued guests or walk the runway as showstoppers for renowned designers, contributing their star power to the event and attracting media attention. These shows not only raise the reputation of Indian fashion designers and brands but also showcase the fusion of traditional craftsmanship with modern trends, reinforcing India’s standing in the fashion world. Bollywood’s red carpet luxury and fashion week appearances inspire fashion enthusiasts and designers worldwide, shaping trends and inspiring global conversations about style and beauty.

Lakme Fashion Week

In addition to their on-screen presence, Bollywood celebrities have enormous influence as brand ambassadors and fashion influencers. Endorsement deals with top fashion and beauty firms are popular in the business, with celebrities adding their fame to product launches and marketing campaigns. Bollywood’s relationship with fashion includes collaborations with designers and stores, with stars developing their own fashion lines and collections to cater to their fan base. These celebrity-driven ventures frequently sell out and increase sales, demonstrating Bollywood’s commercial dominance in the fashion industry.

The emergence of social media has increased Bollywood’s effect on fashion, as superstars share their personal style and fashion choices with their followers. Instagram has become a virtual runway for celebrities to show off their clothing, makeup looks, and fashion collaborations, creating trends and driving consumer demand. Bloggers and influencers frequently unravel famous outfits and provide style advice making it easier to access Bollywood-inspired design.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Bollywood’s influence on fashion trends is evident, with its actors serving as trendsetters and style icons, captivating audiences with their on-screen charisma and off-screen attractiveness. From legendary looks that have stood the test of time to modern trends, Bollywood has had a diverse and far-reaching impact on fashion, impacting how we dress, accessorize, and express ourselves. As Bollywood continues to push the boundaries of creativity and invention, its influence on fashion is expected to increase, cementing its status as a cultural force in the worlds of style and glamour.

Mental health will always succeed everything. This has been proved again today. Sushant Singh, a fine actor commits suicide today. Further, his body was found hanging in his home in Bandra, Mumbai.

Mental health again becomes a topic of discussion as Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput commits suicide

This is a wake up call for all of us. It is time we realise that mental health is real. Moreover, depression exists. Talk to your closed ones, please. The year has been tough for all of us. The actor, who had all the success of the world, still committed suicide. Reports, as of now records depression as the reason behind it. Furthermore, he was just 34 years old. Moreover, his ex-manager Disha Sailan committed suicide on 8 June, 2019.

The actor had done some of the most amazing movies in Bollywood. Starting his career from movie, Kai Po Che, he announced his name in the Bollywood world. Additionally, he also starred in movies like PK, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Chhicchore and many others.

The actor belonged to Patna, Bihar. Additionally, he was equally good in studies during his school days. From achieving AIR 7 in the JEE Exam to featuring in daily soaps like Pavitra Rishta, Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil, the man achieved success and fulfilled his dreams. And now that he was the part of Bollywood made him even more successful in his life.

But maybe success is not equivalent to happiness. Hence, it is time we stop measuring success, fame and money. And look out to seek happiness in our lives. Talk about the things that worry you. Speak up. People are listening. Never give up. Go to therapists. Treat yourself well. Love yourself, and speak. PLEASE. This stands as a wake up call for all of us. Wake up now. Moreover, be kind to others. Kindness is the language we need.

Since Monday (11.May.2020), Bollywood and TV celebrities have initiated a step towards domestic violence. During this lockdown, a rise in aggressive domestic violence is being viewed as an awful behavior. Raising their voices on their social media platforms against the increasing cases the hashtag ‘#LockDownMeinLockUp’ has gone viral.

Actresses including Mouni Roy, Katrina Kaif, Shilpa Shetty, Malaika Arora, Karishma Kapoor, and many others posted selfies as they became the voice of many victims of domestic abuse. Dia Mirza, Bipasha Basu, and Ekta Kapoor, too, extended their support and urged their followers to support the cause by helping them in raising funds to uplift resources for tackling domestic violence in our country.

It was estimated before the lockdown that in a week two women were killed by their partners. But now, opportunities for escape are scarce. There is an NGO SNEHA for which they all are posting and contributing. In their post of Instagram, the celebs have mentioned about the monetary contribution for the sufferers.

From Karshma Kapoor Instagram.

Karishma Kapoor added that the nominated divas can choose to lend your voice by clicking on @snehamumbai_official, pick a name from their page, post your image with the name you’ve picked, and donate via the link in the bio. She further nominated Sonam Kapoor, Nataasha Poonawala, and many more.

Bipasha Basu also shared a black and white picture with the name of the victim, and wrote, ‘I am Ankita.’ I am her voice today and the voices of the many victims of domestic abuse which are going unheard as they are locked up with their abusers in the lockdown. #LockDownMeinLockUp.”

Opening up about the idea behind the post, the actress said that she wants to become the voice of victims of domestic violence. Kaif further stressed on the fact that domestic violence victims should find support in society.

Tahira Kashyap Khurrana said in an official statement, “Lockdown has a completely different meaning for each individual. I like to write about hopeful things; even if the current scenario is the opposite I still like to see that bleak line of a hopeful future. This story is about domestic abuse. The arch of the story can make you feel two ways about its protagonist. To be hopeless in a hopeful situation or to cling on to hope despite unfavorable circumstances is a decision like this story’s characters all of us also face in real life too.”

During this quarantine, this is amongst the saddest news as this disturbs the whole community of housewives, as most victims are those who barely go out. These complaints too have been registered online. The studies say the feeling of helplessness; loss of self-esteem, mental disturbance can lead to depression and anxiety disorders.                       But people are, at least, beginning to notice this. Perhaps one of the very few good things about this lockdown is a greater awareness, which might lead to pressure on the government to do more to repair the damage — when women, currently helpless, seek help. The surge in government support for the NHS has shown what can be done when the sense of urgency is great enough. Perhaps it’s not too much to hope that when the worst of COVID-19 is over, the indirect victims of the crisis might warrant similar attention.

On Monday, several students of Delhi University theatre societies were invited to a show special screening of Laila Majnu (filmmaker Imtiaz Ali`s movie), which is all set to release in theatres on 7th of September.

It was probably one of those few times when a film has been shown to a regular audience ahead of its release.

Imtiaz said, on the screening of his movie- inculcating intense love story “The time that I spent in DU doing theatre was one of the most influential times. I wanted to showcase my work to [the students], because they’re at a time and age where they’ll not get influenced by other people, but they can influence me, and before the film released, I wanted to take their opinion.”

“Laila Majnu” inculcates the fresh pairing of the classic love story in this modern adaptation.
