Collective aegis of the University of Delhi and Vikas Bharat Ambassador Club is going to organize a Viksit Bharat run on May 8. This run shall be of 2.4km and nearly 5000 Delhi University students are going to participate in the run. Here students will aim to create awareness regarding their vision of a developed nation by 2047.

Delhi University Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh will be the chief guest of the event. A meeting to outline the preparations for the event was held under the chairmanship of DU registrar Vikas Gupta.

Gupta mentioned, “The run will be flagged off from gate number one of the university at 7 am on May 8 and will conclude at the sports complex of the university at gate number four. About 5,000 students from different colleges will participate in the 2.4-kilometer run.” Thus this blog shall provide all necessary details regarding the run.

The objective of the run

The main objective of the run will be to create awareness regarding the motto of the government to make India a developed nation by 2047. For this Indian government in the past few years has initiated a lot of projects aimed at the holistic development of the nation. This run by students will indicate the contribution of youth energy in making India a developed nation.

This will not only encourage the fitness of youth but also will help to spread the message of the equal contribution of every member to make India proud.

Controversy regarding timings here?

Delhi University here claims that this has nothing to do with elections and is just an initiative to motivate students. However, professors such as Maya John in Delhi University’s academic council have questioned the timing of events ahead of elections. As the model code of conduct is on grounds, she is dissatisfied with the timings here.

Despite deliberations, the announcement is with the goal of student welfare and creating awareness regarding the vision of visiting Bharat.

How to participate?

Gupta said, “We have sent invitations to colleges to participate in the run”. Thus it will get updated in respective colleges the method of participation in the run. This could mean that colleges will use various methods to encourage participation, such as sending out emails, making announcements, or posting on social media. They might also set up internal coordination to manage their participants. Also to ensure everyone is aware of the event’s logistics, like the registration process, event timing, and location. Ultimately, the invitation will act as a catalyst for colleges to start rallying their communities. Also driving engagement with the upcoming run. The exact procedure will duly be cleared by the time.

Conclusion

Thus it can be concluded that students of Delhi University students will participate in the run on 8th May to create awareness. This shall be a novel initiative to facilitate students to participate actively in the process amid this controversy. This will highlight all the visions and initiatives of the government to make India a developed nation till 2047.

Why are you so keen to troll?

After the emergence of social media, an inhumane culture of trolling has developed there. Being it any student, celebrity, leader or anyone else who has a public image is vulnerable to this trolling culture. Even in many election campaigns, this culture seems very apparent. In an era where average screen time has increased to 10 hours, why is it so that much of this time is being spent on trolling someone?

This is one of the emerging problems in society that is now not in a situation where we have very good and practical solutions for it. The question is why general public here is so keen to troll someone at the top? What is the mental impact that the person gets from such comments? How just it is to troll? What are the apparent solutions to this problem? Who is responsible for this phenomenon? This blog shall cover all of these questions

ROOT CAUSE

It is a unanimously accepted fact that anyone who gets trolled gets trolled by thousands of trollers. This is the reason that a person comes into the limelight in the society. There can be various causes behind it and it becomes very important to detect the root causes behind it.

1. Sadism:

A terminology that refers to the phenomenon of someone getting happy because of someone else’s grief. This is called the sadist pleasure that trollers try to get. Taking this kind of pleasure goes against all kinds of boundaries of ethics. A person remains very unsympathetic during trolling and the only goal is this kind of pleasure. This remains a very critical issue that a troller is now in an inhumane situation and is just concerned about himself/herself.

2. Seeking attention:

Getting attention from the public seems to be human nature. There are a lot of ethical ways for it. The thing is it becomes very easy to seek attention through trolling. Your comment tends to seek thousands of likes and you get attention. Here the fact remains very vain that whether the means of getting this attention is ethical. What will the social impact of the words be ignored?

3. Prejudice:-

There are a lot of preconceptions existing in the society. Any person is not obliged to satisfy every person thus trollers become very active just to prove their point correct.

Mental impact

This trolling culture in social media platforms has a very devastating impact on the mental health of any person. This is true, especially in the case of a teenager who are being continuously judged for their appearance, performance, and every aspect of themselves which makes them very self-conscious. Any student can face problems with their self-esteem because of trolling. This needs to be prevented on an urgent basis with strict measures otherwise there is a tendency for many students to be the victims of this crime. This is not the first time that someone has had the negative limelight. Thus there is a need for centralised control over social media and anti-trolling for teenagers which must be there to protect our children.

Is it just to troll?

We have raised many demands in front of the government have been raised through trolling culture. Many crimes have been detected with the help of social media. Thus is it just to use the trolling culture for reforms or does it have a more negative impact? The question is whether this culture is just or against our ethical values.

First of all, it is a very apparent fact that raising any concern over social media should not be categorized as trolling. It refers to, “making a deliberately offensive or provocative online post to upset someone or elicit an angry response from them:” This means if the comment is offensive it should be categorized under trolling. Thus we must say here that it is not at all just to troll. Trolling should be an offence and it should be emphasized very seriously whenever any teenager is involved

Possible solutions

1. Encouraging bystander influence:

We must engage the bystander to report the trolling comments. Also, social media platforms must be encouraged to take strict action to prevent this culture.

2. Enhanced Reporting Mechanisms:

Implement user-friendly reporting systems that allow users to report trolling easily and anonymously. This will allow users to actively engage against this system without any fear of personal defamation

3. Automated Detection Tools:

Use AI and machine learning to detect patterns of trolling behaviour, such as repeated harassment or offensive language. Thus we can use AI efficiently to raise our voices against this trolling culture.

4. User Education and Awareness:

Conducting awareness campaigns to educate users about the impact of trolling and the importance of creating positive online environments. The online environment must have a positive influence on our children.

Thus in a nutshell, we shall conclude that this culture nowadays is having a very devastating impact on the mental and emotional health of individuals. As a civilized society, this is our responsibility to maintain the personal respect and boundaries of every person living here. Thus if we allow this culture to ptoceed in this way to continue, it will be very difficult for us to say that we belong to a civilized society.

The Delhi Assembly passed a resolution demanding 85% reservation of seats in the 28 Delhi University colleges funded by the Delhi government for students from Delhi.

The resolution was one of the rare ones which was unanimously passed in the Assembly with the support of the Opposition. Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said that students who had passed class 12 from the Capital be given quota in admission to 28 DU colleges that are funded by the Delhi government. Supporting the move, MLAs pledged to raise the issue with the Centre, the Lieutenant Governor and the university administration.

The Party had proposed a similar move in the past. With high cut-offs for admission to several colleges in Delhi, many students in the national capital complain of not getting seats.

Last year also BJP MP Vijay Goel demanded 85 percent reservation for local students in Delhi University colleges. The BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP also met Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia to discuss the issue.
He offered to accompany Mr. Sisodia to meet Union Education to put forward three demands- reservation of 85 per cent seats in 28 DU colleges for students who have passed the senior secondary examination from Delhi, a relaxation of 5 per cent in cut-off lists for these students, and a common eligibility test.
At present, there’s no such reservation available in Delhi University.
