The Delhi University is likely to begin registrations for admission to entrance test-based and postgraduate courses in the third week of July, at least a week prior to starting the process for the remaining merit-based undergraduate courses, a senior official said on Monday. The Supreme Court had on June 24 directed all state boards to declare the internal assessment results of Class 12 by July 31 and gave them 10 days to formulate and notify their evaluation schemes.Entrance based exams from mid july

Rajeev Gupta, chairman, DU admissions, told PTI , “We might start the registration process (for admissions) by the third week of July. There are chances that we might start the registration process for the nine entrance-based courses and postgraduate courses by that time in the first phase and then the registration process for the merit-based courses. The gap between the two phases won’t be more than a week or 10 days.”

He, however, said there is a possibility that all state boards may not declare Class 12 results by July 31.

The admission process was entirely conducted online last year in view of the coronavirus pandemic and students did not have to visit colleges or departments at all.

Students used online platforms for the admission process, accessing the admission list, payment of fees etc. from the comfort of their homes, the university said, adding that the verification of documents was also done online.

Admission in Delhi University (DU). The university is likely to extend the date of registration for admission in the university for 2020-21. The registration was to come to an end on July 4. However, it seems that the university might extend the deadline by a few days.

So far, less than 3 lakh students have applied in the university. As of 5 pm on Friday, the number of applications received by the Delhi University counts to less than 3 lakh for the undergraduate (UG) admissions.

Delhi University Admission: DU likely to extend the date for registration

Additionally, this step of extending the date of registration can be seen as a step to increase registrations. Moreover, it is a step to allow applicants to pay their registration fees. The step will also allow these applicants to complete their registration fees. 2,94, 228 applicants have registered till Friday evening. Additionally, the number of applicants who have paid their forms count to 1,70,971 till Friday evening. The number of forms received till June 14 last year counted more than 3.4 lakh registrations. While 2.38 lakh paid for their forms.

Additionally, the registration process this year started late due to pandemic of Covid-19. The registrations started from June 20 this year. As of now, the last date to fill the registration form is still July 4. But the same date may extend from this July 4.

Delhi University has postponed open book exams for final semester students by 10 days, in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. New date sheet will be released on July 3 and exams will now commence from July 10.

Today, Delhi University has announced that it is postponing the proposed online open book exams for the final year students of regular and open learning programmes by 10 days, in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The exams were scheduled to begin on July 1.

The OBE mode examinations as an alternative mode of examinations in view of COVID-19 pandemic adopted as one-time measure for academic session 2019-20 for all streams of UG and PG including SOL and NCWEB stands postponed for ten days in view of the prevailing situation of COVID19 pandemic,” the DU notification said.

This method of examination have been furiously resisted by both students and faculties at Delhi University. Although as per the University Grants Commission’s guidelines, released in May, online examination mode was allowed for final-semester exams, the UGC has since been directed to rethink on those gudelines by the Minister of Human Resource Development, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’.

New Dates For DU Open Book Exams

The University will announce new dates for the final-year undergraduate and postgraduate exams including the School of Open Learning and the Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board, or NCWEB, on July 3, 2020, and exams will commence from July 10.

According to the notification by Delhi University, pattern will remain same as announced before. Mock tests for the open book exams will start from July 4, the university said.

“All other activities or facilities notified by examination branch related with OBE mode of examinations adopted as one-time measure for the academic session 2019-20 through various notice or notification shall remain unchanged and no further notification shall be issued either as corrigendum or amendment,” DU said in the notification.

The notifications regarding conduct of OBE for persons with disabilities (PwD) and visually impaired (VI) students will also remain the same, DU informed.
