India Clinches T20 World Cup Title with Thrilling Victory Over South Africa

On 29th June 2024, India created history by having a phenomenal victory over South Africa in the ICC T20 World Cup. It is after 13 years that India won the T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma finally added the T20 World Cup to their resume and retired from T20 cricket. India gave the target of 176 runs to South Africa, a score which the Indian team successfully defended. This time Kohli also made a half century and Jaspreet Bumrah was the man of the match.

The entire social media flourished with the news with hundreds of reels being viraled there only concerned about the cricket tournament. One reel showing Rohit Sharma eating sand of Barbados pitch got vialed there. Hilariously people started to please Prafull Billore because of his Instagram posts.

It all began innocently when Billore shared a selfie of cricket player Suryakumar Yadav on social media. Unknowingly, this sparked a wave of online jokes calling Billore the infamous “panautiThe ,” or unlucky, following Yadav’s disappointing league performance. Billore accepted this designation and gave the mocking a lighthearted twist by photoshopping himself into pictures of South African cricket players, refusing to run from the spotlight.

A memorable day(T20 World cup 2024)!

In the initial over of T20 world cup 2024 the chase for 176, South Africa was shaken as Bumrah dismissed Reeza Hendricks and Arshdeep removed Aiden Markram in the third over. They lost two wickets in rapid succession. At the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown in Barbados on Saturday, India’s team total of 176/7, including 76 points from Virat Kohli, was the best in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa. Shivam Dube outscored him with 27 runs in the last over.

President, Prime minister and the leader of the opposition congratulated the Indian team for their phenomenal victory in the matches. The prime minister mentioned “Team India ko iss bhavyya Vijay ke liye, sabhi desh vasiyon ke taraf se bahut, bahut badhai.” , Amit Shah tweeted, “Our players put up a stellar performance throughout the T20 World Cup with unmatched team spirit and sportsmanship. The nation swells with pride at their historic achievement.” Congress MP and LoP Rahul Gandhi also tweeted, saying, “Congratulations to Team India on a spectacular World Cup Victory and a phenomenal performance throughout the tournament! Surya, what a brilliant catch! Rohit, this win is a testament to your leader”

Thus, in a nutshell, we can say that it was one of the historical achievements in pocket of Indian team. Everyone waited a really long time for this victory. This is a high time for celebrations. Kudos to Indian team for its victory!

However, professors such as Maya John in Delhi University’s academic council have questioned the timing of events ahead of elections. As the model code of conduct is on grounds, she is dissatisfied with the timings here.

Despite deliberations, the announcement is with the goal of student welfare and creating awareness regarding the vision of visiting Bharat.

How to participate?

Gupta said, “We have sent invitations to colleges to participate in the run”. Thus it will get updated in respective colleges the method of participation in the run. This could mean that colleges will use various methods to encourage participation, such as sending out emails, making announcements, or posting on social media. They might also set up internal coordination to manage their participants. Also to ensure everyone is aware of the event’s logistics, like the registration process, event timing, and location. Ultimately, the invitation will act as a catalyst for colleges to start rallying their communities. Also driving engagement with the upcoming run. The exact procedure will duly be cleared by the time.

Conclusion

Thus it can be concluded that students of Delhi University students will participate in the run on 8th May to create awareness. On July 12, London, ever since England’s defeat in the Euro 2020 final, black players in the team were subjected to a barrage of racist online abuse, prompting widespread condemnation from the squad’s captain, manager, royalty, religious leaders, and politicians. Marcus Rashford, 23, Jadon Sancho, 21, and Bukayo Saka, 19, were the targets of abuse after missing penalty kicks in a penalty shootout with Italy that decided Sunday’s final after the game finished 1-1.

On social media, the three were bombarded with “offensive and racist” posts. Many well-known public personalities have criticised the outpouring of hatred, and the Metropolitan Police has confirmed it is looking into at least some of the social media.

William, who is the president of the Football Association, tweeted on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s official Twitter account Monday morning, “It is utterly unacceptable that players have to endure this repulsive behaviour.” “It must stop now, and all those involved must be held accountable,” he wrote, signing off with a “W” for William.

Many have praised William for his comments about racism in soccer, but many have criticised him for not publicly defending his biracial sister-in-law Meghan Markle from sexist and racist abuse she has faced both online and offline.

The players’ union, the Professional Footballers’ Association, stated that “When you abuse any of our players, you abuse all of us. Racist abuse causes trauma. It will impact the targeted players, their teammates, and we know it will also affect their peers”. A mural in Manchester, England, depicting Rashford and celebrating his charitable work was defaced in a “racially aggravated” manner, according to police.

The harassment was described as “unforgivable” by England’s national team coach, Gareth Southgate. “It’s not what we stand for,” Southgate said at a press conference on Monday, applauding Rashford, Sancho, and Saka’s performances. “We’re healing as a team now, and we’re there for them, and I know 99 per cent of the audience will be, too, because they’ll recognise how brilliantly they performed.”

Following England’s highly televised loss to Italy in the Euro 2020 final on Sunday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson criticised racial abuse directed at several of the team’s Black players. At a news conference later that evening, Johnson expressed his desire that those who perpetrated abuse would “crawl back under the rock from which you emerged.”Since the game, none of the three players involved has made any public statements.

According to Musa Okwonga, an English soccer journalist of the Stadio football podcast, after the game, the abuse began. She quoted “Hate is a strong word. But the racist relying on black English footballers to bring them glory as if they were their servants, then turning on them as soon as they fell short of their dreams, have my deepest contempt”.

Racism has long plagued English players, and many have spoken out about it in recent years, including Rashford, who this year called racist abuse from soccer fans “humanity and social media at its worst.” During this year’s Euro tournament, England’s team took a knee before games to protest racial inequality, much to the chagrin of some fans.
