History of South Campus:

In its early years, the university functioned from the iconic Kashmere Gate campus in Old Delhi. DU expanded rapidly over the years to accommodate the growing number of students seeking admission. This led to the establishment of DU’s South Campus in 1973 other than North Campus. It relocated to its present location on Benito Juarez Marg, near Dhaula Kuan in 1984.

The South Campus is located on a 69-acre campus aptly named the University of Delhi South Campus. It focuses on professional courses and research in applied sciences. The South Campus has a serene academic environment amidst a pollution-free, green locale.

The different departments are situated in the Faculty of Arts, Interdisciplinary Studies, Applied Sciences, and the S.P. Jain Centre for Management Studies. In the South Campus, there are several colleges including Aryabhatta College, Gargi College, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, Jesus and Mary College, Maitreyi College, Motilal Nehru College, Ram Lal Anand College, Sri Venkateswara College, Rajdhani College, Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, Institute of Home Economics, Pannalal Girdharlal Dayanand Anglo Vedic College, and College of Vocational Studies.

NORTH CAMPUS

1. Chache Di Hatti

Chacha ke cholle bhature are a must. The popularity of this tiny shop can be seen by the fact that it is heavily crowded all the time and sometimes the shop wraps up even before 2 PM. A plate of cholle bhature is good for a heavy meal and you sure will come out with a happy tummy.

2. Tom Uncle’s Maggi Point

A plate of Maggi a day, makes one happy and gay.  This point is well-known for its variety of Maggis, sodas and other snacks that are cherished by hungry students. The cheese masala maggi is one of the most demanded of the lot.

3. Delhi School of Economics’ Canteen

Assorted dishes and a space to enjoy the variety, brings students from surrounding colleges to the Delhi School of Economics Canteen. Once known as the Indian Coffee House, today, it has turned out to be one of the most popular joints in the North Campus area.

4. Momo’s Point

5. Stephen’s Canteen

No one can afford to miss the good food of St. Stephen’s Café. Students prefer calling it a Cafe, rather than canteen and they are pretty right in doing so because of its cool ambience and awesome decor. Maggi and Minced cutlets are the most popular among students.

SOUTH CAMPUS

1. QD’S

QD’s is one of the most popular pocket friendly places in South Campus. It serves North Indian, together with Chinese cuisine. They have curated their menu as per the student’s need and for this they are highly appreciated.

2. Big Yellow Door (BYD)

This place is something really awesome. It’s a hit among the students. From cheesy nachos to BYD’s delicious burger, Chocolate Oreo Shake to Pink Lemonade, it’s surely one of the best places to chill and eat.

3. Sri Venkateswara College’s Canteen

It is a strictly vegetarian food canteen and is quite popular for its delicious South Indian. Besides that they also serve Aloo Tikki, Maggi and Fried Rice. Canteen’s menu keeps changing according to the season. The massive outdoor-seating area is the most favourite spot among the South Campus students.
