Welcome to the Mythological World of Delhi University: After reading this all your doubts will get cleared

Being one of the prominent universities of India, DU always gets enough attention of the critics. Delhi University is the university which is called ‘ the best ‘ and ‘ the most overrated university ‘ at the same time. But, how is this possible? What’s baffles the image of DU? Here are the myths about our very own DU. These myths demean as well as glorify our university. There are no evidence to ensure how much of it is truth but it’s amazing to look at it.

# Myth 1 – DU Is All About North Campus

Call it a myth or a misconception; most students assume that Delhi University is all about North Campus. There are many prominent off-campus colleges which are not only good in studies but offer many courses which are not available anywhere, even in North Campus. Wake up people, there is world outside North Campus.

# Myth 2 – Students Don’t Study Here

Well…..you can never claim weather the students of a university study or not. Those who are really dedicated to studies will study, no matter where they are.

P.S: We are forgetting the prominent faces DU gave birth to.

# Myth 3 – DU Life Is All About Partying

So the story goes like once there was a party animal who, when enrolled in DU, forgot to party and became very anxious about the assignments. Such is the effect of DU!!!! . Because here the number of assignments you get in a month is always way ahead of number of times you get to party.

# Myth 4 – Everyone Is Spoiled Rich Brat Here

Most of us have this notion that each and every student you encounter at DU is ‘ tu-janta-hai-mera-bap-kaun-hai ‘ types. But all I can promise is if you really want to see the diversity of our nation, DU is the best place to be considered. Students of not only different region but of different economic background can be seen here. No exclamation if you meet a minister’s son here. No exclamation if you find those who get financial help from scholarships.

# Myth 5 – You Can Bunk Classes Whenever You Feel Like It

Only if you are still ignorant of the fact, 75% attendance is mandatory for appearing in exams. Let me be more precise, you are screwed if you don’t have 75% attendance. Plus, from the 25 marks of the internals 5 marks has been given to the attendance. Hence you cannot bunk classes. Sorry for breaking your heart people.

Girls College:  Myths v/s Facts

“She’s from a girls college. Does she even have a boyfriend? All that she knows is make up and clothes”. Aren’t we all familiar with the above attitude? Folks today have a biased attitude towards such colleges. They consider them an island alienated from the real world. But these misconceptions can be totally refuted with the facts.

Not Even A Boy? Living In Such A Suffocating Environment!
myths-about-girls-college-one

First idea that strikes a person is that we would not be able to have even a glimpse of a male. This is not the scene definitely. They continue to live in the same society with male teachers, autowallas, shopkeepers and boys from other co-ed colleges around. Not just that, they have male friends from school, societies and other organizations.

Must be a feminist. Women’s rights and all that stuff?

One thing that you need to put into your head is that everyone out there is not possessed with sisterhood. Girls have their own independent outlook. Doesn’t matter from which institute you study but what counts is your ideals in life.

You all hang around in pyjamas right?
girls having fun
Super false. They face loads of gazing eyes being judgemental about your fashion sense. But, girls in female colleges do dress in a presentable and decent manner. Although they have no boys to impress but they do not dress up to impress others.

She’s not smart enough for co-ed colleges.
myths-about-girls-college-three

Total blunder. When compared with girls of a co-ed college, these girls prove to be more competitive and ready to face the real world. After all, they unlike others do not spend a considerable time trying to grab the other sex’s attention.

Cliquish atmosphere. Mean girls all around.
girls in a group
Put a sock in it. Females are associated with feeling of jealousy and selfishness but the same can be found in males as well. You do not meet bossy girls dominating everyone. The locale is just similar to any other college in the campus.

Thus it’s not about girls clinging to each other in groups all the time. People there do make friends with new and exciting people from varied backgrounds. Getting into a girls college may even land you in an advantageous position.
girls discussing

> Women colleges create leaders.
> You have a confident and outgoing personality.
> Better facilities for women’s sports.

So open up, explore the unknown. Go beyond your horizons. You may end up having a lifetime experience with a person you do not share anything in common!
