The Delhi government has formed a 7-member panel to investigate the use of grants by the 12 DU colleges it funds.

According to an official order, the Delhi Government on Monday formed a 7-member committee to investigate the utilization and management of finances at the 12 Delhi University institutions sponsored by the Aam Aadmi Party administration.

This comes as the Delhi government and the administrations of the 12 institutions continue to feud over fund distribution. The committee has been given 15 days to produce its findings, or by February 2, according to the directive. The committee was formed by Delhi Higher Education Minister Manish Sisodia to “investigate the situation of finances, sources of funds, usage of funds, and management of money in respect of 12 Delhi government fully financed institutions of the University of Delhi,” according to the order. Professor Balaram Pani, Dean of Colleges at Delhi University, will lead the group, which will also include Registrar Vikas Gupta. Principals of Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Maharshi Valmiki College of Education, and Maharaja Agrasen College, as well as Chairpersons of Acharya Narendra Dev College and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College’s Governing Bodies, are among the other members.

Anil Kumar Sharma, Deputy Director, Higher Education, would serve as member secretary “to properly manage the meetings,” according to the order “. The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) recently held a one-day strike to protest the City Government’s refusal to pay cash.

According to Rajesh Jha, a member of the teachers’ organization Academics For Action and Development, the finances for these colleges must be provided immediately. “Various authorities conduct audits of these universities from time to time. As a result, this committee should not be utilized to prevent monies from being released. The terms of reference make it plain that the Delhi government is interested in the college development funds, which are collected from students. This is a step toward privatization that we will not tolerate, he further added.

DU issues anti-ragging guidelines as colleges prepare to open.

According to the anti-ragging standards, heads of institutions may designate a Disciplinary Resource Person (DRP) in each college, hostel, hall, or department, and the proctor’s office must be informed of their identity.

The Delhi University released anti-ragging guidelines on Thursday, mandating the establishment of monitoring squads in colleges and the placement of sealed complaint boxes in front of the principal’s office. Orientation days will be held for incoming students to familiarise them with their particular colleges and departments.

On November 20, Miranda House will have its online orientation, during which students will be given a virtual tour of the campus. Other Orientation days will be held on November 22 at Shri Ram College of Commerce, Indraprastha College For Women, Gargi College, and Ramanujan College. On November 20, Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences will host its convocation.

Freshmen will also be able to participate in department-specific orientation programs. The orientation programs will be delivered over the internet, and the lessons will be delivered via the internet as well. According to the anti-ragging standards, heads of institutions may designate a Disciplinary Resource Person (DRP) in each college, hostel, hall, or department, and the proctor’s office must be informed of their identity.

“The institutions may erect suitable hoardings/billboards/banners in prominent places within the respective campus to exhort the students to prevent or not to indulge in ragging… Along with the DRP, senior teachers, NCC/NSS officers, if any, and senior students may be involved to form a Disciplinary Resource Committee (DRC)/Disciplinary Committee at the college/faculty/department level.”
READ THE FULL GUIDELINES HERE.

In addition to DRC/DC, the rules proposed forming vigilance squads with the support of NCC/NSS student volunteers to maintain a continual watch for situations of indiscipline among students and to avert unfortunate occurrences.

“Sealed complaint boxes be placed in front of the Principal’s Office, especially in those undergraduate colleges which have hostels, for the benefit of the potential victims of ragging to enable them to put their complaints/suggestions to College authorities. Officials in each college on whom the responsibility has been entrusted will look into those complaints and take prompt necessary action, as per University norms,” the guidelines said.

The vigilance squads and the DRC/DC must work together since the DRC/DC will suggest disciplinary action for any instance of indiscipline involving any student or group of students, and the appropriate head of institution will then take action, according to the statement. Each student is required to have his or her own identification card. Students’ access to the institution should be based only on the verification of their identification cards. Security Guards and other related employees may be used to enforce such controlled entrance.

“Such security staff along with the vigilance squads may organize, from time to time, some surprise raids on the premises of cafeteria/canteen/hostels/student union rooms/general common rooms/parking lots, etc,” the guidelines said.

They also advocated for the establishment of a personal consultant/mentor in colleges and departments, as well as the assignment of all new entrants, either individually or in groups, to a specific faculty member who would devote some time to helping them overcome any emotional issues that may arise as a result of adjusting to a new environment.

Delhi University will release a special cut-off list today as the admission round for the third cut-off list has concluded. Students who have been accepted to other courses or colleges can not cancel their admissions and apply to a preferred course or college in the special cut-off, unlike in the second and third lists.

Students who were not able to apply for admission while being eligible according to the prior three cut-off lists will receive the cut-off.

The special cut-off will be published on the official website, du.ac.in.

Know the following steps.

1st Step: Visit the DU’s or related colleges’ official websites.
2nd Step: Go to the DU Special Cutoff 2021 link and click it.
3rd Step: To make your job easier, download the PDF file and print it out.

Students who have been accepted to any of the first three lists for any course or college will not be eligible for admissions against the special cut-off.
There will be no movement allowed during the special cut-offs, according to university admissions criteria. Candidates who have already been accepted into a DU programme or college will not be allowed and considered.

This is intended to provide a chance for those who were unable to get on one of the three lists for various reasons. Admissions will be made based on the last declared cut-off for a programme in colleges where seats exist.

Students can expect colleges to reopen admission of UG seats for some courses in the special cut-off list, as many courses were closed during the admission against the second and third DU cut-off lists.

What to expect?

Admission to all BSc Honours Statistics, BSc Mathematics, BSc Physics, and BA English (Hons) programmes at DU’s Hindu College had closed during the third cut-off list. While at Lady Shri Ram College (LSR), unreserved Mathematics admissions closed in the third list. The admissions process for all programmes at Jesus and Mary College (JMC) is ended, with the exception of Hindi. Admission to BA (Hons) Economics at Gargi College has reopened on the DU 3rd cut-off list.

For BA (Hons) Economics, the third cut-off was 98.50 percent. Students pursuing admission to DU colleges in courses such as BSc Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Statistics might expect a slight fall in the cut-off scores.
