With exceptionally high cut-offs in multiple disciplines in several colleges, including 100% cut-off marks, the Congress-backed NSUI has urged the DU VC to consider the pandemic-related challenges experienced by students in the DU admissions 2021.

On Saturday, the National Students’ Union of India requested the vice-chancellor to provide a solution for DU students who did not receive good marks in their Class 12 exams.

The students’ union requested that the VC consider the “huge difficulties” students had attending online lessons during the Covid-19 outbreak.

What did NSUI say to the VC at DU?

Students encountered challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic, including a paucity of electronic gadgets and the death of close ones, according to NSUI National President Neeraj Kundan, who submitted a letter to the vice chancellor of Delhi University.

He also encouraged the VC to find solutions that will allow students to pursue their goals of studying at DU.

“The Admission Committee has also been informed by NSUI (of DU). On behalf of all students, NSUI urges that higher authorities take into account the enormous issues that students encounter due to a variety of factors and give them the opportunity to be a part of Delhi University “According to PTI, the student group stated.

DU cut-offs that are extremely high

On Friday, DU colleges released their first cut-off lists, and the majority of the colleges had very high cut-off marks, with 95 percent or higher for most courses.

In a variety of courses, eight prestigious colleges achieved 100 percent cut-off marks.

Students seeking admission to the BA (Hons) Economics and BCom programmes at Shri Ram College of Commerce must have a perfect academic record (Hons). The college made headlines last year when it set the cut-offs for the same courses at 99 percent and 99.5 percent, respectively.

For those who did not have Psychology in their best of four (BFS) percentage, Jesus and Mary College recorded 100 percent cut-ff marks for admission to BA (Hons) Psychology. Those who do have it face a 99 percent cut-off rate.

Why are the cut-off marks for DU so high?

The cut-off marks for college admissions were expected to be very high this year, as the number of students scoring above 90% in their Class 12 exams increased dramatically as a result of the alternate marking systems used to address the no-board exam rule for CBSE, CISCE, and most state boards.

In the CBSE Class 12 board exams 2021, there were 70,004 students who received above-95 percent marks and 1,50,152 students who received above-90 percent marks.

In addition, the drop in the number of students going abroad to study because of the pandemic, as well as the increase in the number of applications, have all contributed to the high DU cut-off marks.

Despite the fact that Delhi University is supposed to release five cut-off lists, there is very little chance that seats will remain vacant until that call or that cut-off marks will fall significantly in the top DU colleges.

The admissions process for Delhi University will begin on October 4 at du.ac.in. The second cut off list will be released on October 9, followed by the third on October 16.

New Delhi: After a substantial section of its executive council voiced dissatisfaction with a proposal to combine it with the Delhi government-run Ambedkar University, the Delhi University has created a six-member panel to investigate the problem of the College of Art’s de-affiliation from the institution.

The committee will also examine the Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research (DIPSAR) being de-affiliated from Delhi University (DU) and renamed the Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University (PSRU) under the Delhi government.
In March, the Cabinet of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal resolved to merge the College of Art (CoA) with Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD).

“How the de-affiliation process is carried out will be determined by Delhi University.” Professor Balaram Pani, the varsity’s Dean of Colleges, stated, “There has been no process taken out for its (CoA) de-affiliation.”

“Whether the College of Art should be de-affiliated will be decided by the committee,” he said.

The decision to form the committee was made at the university’s Executive Council (EC) meeting last month. On September 21, the committee was notified.

The de-affiliation of CoA from DU and its affiliation with the AUD was discussed at the EC meeting.

The Delhi Cabinet decided in March to merge CoA, which is currently connected with DU, with AUD. “A committee has been established to investigate the situation.

The entire EC was dissatisfied with the Delhi government’s actions, thus a committee was formed “Vikas Gupta, the Registrar had stated.

Professor Rajpal Singh Pawar, who has been nominated to the university’s de-affiliation committee, stated that they questioned the university’s officials on the matter.

“We shall make every effort to prevent de-affiliation. Whatever happens, it must be approved by the European Commission. The committee will produce Delhi University’s response to the Delhi government’s proposed Cabinet note on the de-affiliation of the College of Art and Design “he stated

Mr Pawar further stated that DIPSAR’s affiliation was never permitted by the university. “We’d like to know when authorization for its de-affiliation was granted, as well as who issued that approval,” he added.

The dictionary definition of streetwear is straightforward: stylish, informal clothing. However, that characterization undersells what has grown into a multibillion-dollar retail phenomenon with roots in the 1980s and 1990s countercultures such as graffiti, hip-hop, skateboarding, and surfing.

After a long and exhausting day, wearing casual clothing allows you to unwind. People may or may not feel at ease in formal or party attire. It’s possible that uniforms aren’t cool enough for everyone! Casual outfits let people feel at ease while still making them seem fashionable. Streetwear, in particular, adds to the allure. You can dress any way you like and still be seen as a streetwear fashion icon by others. It is a simple method of dressing. In summary, streetwear is the creation, promotion, sale, and resale of casual clothing — primarily shoes, but also T-shirts and other things – outside of regular retail channels, frequently undermining the way the fashion industry has long defined and dictated how “cool” is made lucrative. The audience, and hence the target market, is primarily under the age of 25.
The strangest of outfit combinations make up the streetwear trend. Miniskirts can be worn with jeans and blazers. They have the option of exposing or concealing themselves, depending on their preference. In the name of street attire, boys can earn themselves a raucous look. They can accessorize with sleeveless t-shirts, scarves, low-rise jeans, and other accessories. They can wear monkey caps and cotton pants with doctor-sleeved t-shirts. Both men and women can dress in this quirky style.
At the same time, this style is simple and complex. To some sense, it represents rebellion. Teenagers choose to dress in this style since it offers them a unique look. Young girls and boys desire to be noticed, and wearing street clothes can help them get it. Rappers, guitarists, rock performers, and other artists prefer it as well. It catches people’s attention and makes them feel alive.
The mobility of people is often associated with streetwear fashion. It’s something that doesn’t follow any specific laws and is always changing and evolving in response to the street. Some claim that streetwear arose as a reaction to the mass-produced forms of “mall” fashion and that it was a means for people to express themselves by inventing their own styles in order to break free from the mainstream’s monotony.
Shawn Stussy pioneered street clothing in the United States. It evolved from a normal skate and surfing outfit to mainstream street fashion. This kind of attire was also popular among hip-hop stars. It quickly became a favorite among the young and the young at heart. Loose-fitting pants and tops that were almost three times the actual size were fashionable. In the United States, the Bermudas, jeans, t-shirts, baseball caps, and shoes have become the face of street clothing. Because the communities that developed streetwear were predominantly male-dominated, the style was first adopted and developed by men, displaying conventionally masculine looks. Streetwear began as a basic antidote to the complex, sophisticated fashions that were popular at the time. The formula was simple: people wore T-shirts and hoodies because they liked them. The comfort and self-expression of this uniform were intertwined.
Despite the fact that the streetwear trend originated in the United States, Japan has emerged as the market leader. After learning about street clothing in the United States, Japanese fashion designers began producing their own interpretations. The fashion-obsessed Japanese public interpreted streetwear fashion in their own unique way. They embellished it with their own embellishments to make it more opulent. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to defeat Japan in this game! Japanese streetwear fashion, in fact, streetwear fashion in general, is both simple and intricate. It’s not about high-end clothing or high-end textiles. It’s all about self-expression and originality. A streetwear fashion icon might be anyone.
The majority of big fashion labels, both high-end and mass-market, are incorporating streetwear into their plans. Indeed, 76 percent of respondents to our global industry study of fashion and retail executives anticipate streetwear will rise significantly over the next five years. Indeed, 76 percent of respondents stated they anticipate streetwear would continue to develop significantly over the next five years in a global study of fashion and retail sector executives that we just conducted.
Streetwear’s growing dominance has been highlighted by key occasions in the industry. A partnership between Supreme and Louis Vuitton in 2017 represented a watershed moment in the luxury fashion industry’s understanding of streetwear. In 2018, Vuitton named Virgil Abloh, a well-known streetwear designer, as creative director of menswear. Large-scale investment in streetwear has grown more prevalent elsewhere, with Supreme’s sale to The Carlyle Group in 2017 for an estimated US$500 million is the most recent example. Other streetwear labels, such as A Bathing Ape (BAPE) from Japan, got funding as early as 2011. Concepts, a footwear shop, partnered with Amazon-owned Zappos in 2018, and Stadium Goods was backed by LVMH.
What started as a fringe culture – literally starting with the printing of logos on T-shirts – has evolved into a major force in the fashion business, embraced by both men and women and spanning luxury and mass-market brands.

From this semester forward, all students at DU will be required to plant trees. New Delhi, India: The University of Delhi (DU) has launched an endeavor to make the world a “greener place” through its new “Environmental Education to Environmental Action” program, which requires each student to plant at least one tree anywhere in the country. Vice-chancellor of the university PC Joshi, speaking about the initiative announced by DU on August 7 for the upcoming academic session, said that it was launched as part of the university’s social obligation to the environment.

“From environmental education to environmental action is our goal. Each student admitted to DU will be required to plant and maintain a tree. Every six months, the students will provide us with a geotagging report on the tree’s progress “he explained.

Joshi went on to say that students could plant trees in their hometowns, and on August 15, he and all of the DU officials planted a tree on the campus to begin off the program. “We’re all keeping an eye on the plants we’ve planted” he explained.

Dinbandhu Sahoo, a DU professor and Director of the Centre for Himalayan Studies (DCHS), noted that India only had 28 trees per person during the COVID-19 crisis, compared to 422 trees per person worldwide. “Students are a well-organized group, and India has between 5 and 6 million students. Within five years, if each student plants one tree, the total number of trees will have doubled. It will not only improve the quality of life by increasing oxygen levels, but it will also create jobs through a sustainable supply chain”

In a letter to Mr. Joshi, DCHS encouraged him to institutionalize the program and make it mandatory for all students, according to Mr. Sahoo. When asked about geotagging, Sahoo explained that it will aid in keeping track of the trees planted by students because geotagging will track the longitudinal and latitudinal location of the tree’s planting location.

The professor went on to say that DU was the first university to execute this program and that other universities should follow suit for a “greener earth.”

Making a decision is not an easy task. Every day, you’re all faced with a variety of choices. When faced with a difficult decision, you tend to freeze and overthink the problem, resulting in paralysis. This is what some people refer to as “choice fatigue.” You are simply bored of making decisions, and when presented with a significant one, we retreat into our shells and put it off.

The majority of people are unaware of the significant consequences of their choices in life. You often go through life with no awareness of the thoughts we are having or the acts we are taking. Every decision one makes throughout the day contributes to the current state of affairs. It molds who we are as individuals since we routinely carry out our decisions without even realizing it.

Even in 11th grade, when I had to choose an optional subject, I was perplexed. I chose mass media as my subject initially because my media lab had air conditioning. I had no idea how much I would enjoy media. Little did I know that I would be the highest-scoring student in the same subject and would be pursuing a degree in the same field and probably would have a career in the same.

You must first decide whether you want to join the gym, talk to that cute girl/guy on the bus, or immediately begin reading more books. This is significant. Don’t second-guess yourself, and don’t be concerned about whether or not it’s a smart idea. Just go for it. You’ll wonder why it took you so long to make the decision when you look back in a few months!

You might take too long to make a decision because you fear what will happen.  As a result, before making a decision, one goes over topics like cautious planning, in-depth analysis, and pros and disadvantages. It will take a long time to complete this task. Instead, develop the ability to trust your instincts. In most cases, your original inclination is correct or the path you genuinely desired to take. Even if you make a mistake, trusting your gut makes you a more confident decision-maker than someone who takes all day to make a decision.

Small steps are always the best method to get at something that is continually changing for complex reasons. Small decisions pave the way for larger decisions. Decisions are powerful and can have far-reaching implications, both positive and negative. They have had a direct impact on where we are in life. How one man’s rebirth can assist you in making better decisions and living your best life.
