The varsity’s Standing Committee on Admissions was earlier mulling admitting students through an entrance test rather than the existing criteria of cut-offs based on Class 12th results.

To avoid last minute rush, Delhi University has started the admission process earlier this year. The online registration form for the undergraduate courses are available from May 15, 2018.

Here we have listed important points which you must know about Delhi University admission:

1. Delhi University application process is conducted completely online now and students don’t need to queue up at the university or colleges to procure application forms.

2. Application fee for DU admission form can also be submitted online, hence no hassling for demand draft at an SBI branch.

3. The cutoff will be released separately for Arts and Humanities courses and Science courses.

4. Best four – most of the colleges consider marks scored in best four subjects, that is any four subjects in which a student has scored maximum marks.

5. The University may conduct entrance exam for admission to B.Tech., B.El.Ed., BMS, BA (Honors) Economics, BBA (FIA) etc.

6. 5% seat in each course is reserved for ECA and Sports quota.

7. Each college conducts its own ECA and Sports trial. Stay updated about every college’s schedule of the trial.

8. Women students can also opt for admission to Non Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB), DU which conducts weekend classes for women students at various study centers.

9. NCWEB, DU offers two UG courses – BA (Programme) and B.Com.

10. Students with low scores in 10+2 can also opt for admission to School of Open Learning (SOL), DU.

Q: Can I include music and physical education in my best of four subjects?

A: Music and physical education will be treated as academic only for honours courses in music and physical education respectively.

Q: Will there be any disadvantage for gap year candidates?

A: No, all you need to have the necessary documents.

Q: What is ECA/Sports Quota?

A: Sports and ECA Quota are the two different categories, which you can avail for admissions to various UG programmes in DU. You can apply for the Sports/ECA Quota through the application forms of the same available at respective colleges offering reservation to the categories. Colleges will be conducting fitness trials for the Quota, following a centralized fitness test conducted by the University Sports Council.

Q: I am a girl. Can I avail for any relaxation?

A: Yes, some of the DU colleges offer relaxation to girl candidates. The relaxation to the girl candidates may differ for every college and courses; however, the maximum limit is set to be 3%. Every college needs to seek a prior approval from the Delhi university Student Welfare (DUSW) office regarding the same, clarifying the reasons for offering relaxation. Once a percentage or number of seats is fixed for a particular course in a college, the same has to be maintained till the last admission list of admissions.

Q: I am a Sikh candidate. Do I have reservation of seats under the minority group?

A: Some of the colleges offer reserved seats to Sikh candidates. You need to check the respective colleges of DU. The colleges will need to seek a prior approval from the DUSW regarding the same.

Q: I have passed my 10+2 examination from Delhi. Do I reserve some seats/have an advantage of being from Delhi?

A: No, Delhi University has no special provision/reservation of seats for Delhi candidates.

Q: Is there any provision of first-cum first-serve policy while admissions, once the cutoff lists have been declared?

A: Admissions to colleges are not based on first-come-first-serve but strictly on merit secured by the candidates.

Q: I have studied both commerce and accounts subjects in my Class 12^th. Which subject I need to offer for Best of Four calculation?

A: You can choose both the subjects in your best of four calculations.

Q: I am a Science student. Can I apply for BA/B.Com Honours or Pass programmes?

A: Yes you can apply for any of the programmes BA (H)/BA (Pass)/B.Com (H)/ B.Com (Pass), subjected to eligibility criteria and meeting the cutoff for the specific programmes.

Q: Once I have been admitted in a particular college with a subject, can I change my subject during the course of study or after completing my first year?

A: No, once you have been admitted to a particular subject, you can’t change the subject. However, the subject can be changed only before the last date of admissions to the programme/course, subjected to the cutoff.

Q: I have compartmental in some of the subjects. Can I still fill in DU Applications?

A: You can fill in the application form of DU, subjected to fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria and cutoff marks and declaration of your compartmental exam result within the stipulated time of admissions.

Q: I had compartmental in few subjects in my 10+2 examination and I appeared for the compartmental exam and cleared the same. Now I have two mark sheets, which marks I need to provide in my DU application details?

A: Yes, you can get admissions in Delhi University in subjects of your choice, without any disadvantage, provided you meet the cutoff marks. You will need to provide the revised marks in your application details.

Q: I didn’t have mathematics at my 10+2 level. Can I get admissions in B.Com (H) or BA Economics (H)?

A: No, you need to have Mathematics and passed in the subject to get admissions in B.Com (H) or BA Economics (H) programme.

Q: Is it necessary to be present at the day of admission?

A: Yes, the candidates should be present in person along with the necessary documents on the day of admission.

Q: I have qualified 10+2 from National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). Can I get admissions in DU for regular programmes?

A: Of course you can, provided you meet the cutoff marks for the programmes of your choice.

Q: What is the procedure to enroll in programmes offered at St. Stephen’s College or Jesus and Mary College?

A: Candidates interested in applying for programmes in St. Stephen’s or Jesus and Mary Colleges need to apply to the respective colleges directly.

Q: I belong to reserved category (SC/ST/OBC/PwD). Do I need any specific certificates during admissions?

A: Sure, those who are applying under the reserved categories need to submit the reservation certificate, in proof of the same, which should be at most 6 months older and must be furnished in the name of the candidate. The OBC certificate must also specify that candidates belong to non-creamy layer and caste is listed in the Central Government list. Whereas those applying under Economically Backward Class (EBC), need to submit a certificate in proof of the same duly attested by the authority under the Central Government and should be in the name of father/mother/guardian.

Q: Do I need to attach any certificates/documents along with my Online or Offline Application?

A: No, you don’t need to attach or send any document or certificate or anything else along with the duly filled-in applications. However, the same can be carried at the day of admissions for verification.

Q: How can I get hostel in DU campus?

A: The colleges have the right to allot hostels to deserving candidates pursing the undergraduate programmes in DU, strictly based on merit. The application form for hostels can be received and submitted at college level only after the declaration of cutoff lists, during admissions.

DU JAT 2018 Application Form

DU JAT Application Form will be available from Last Week of May 2018 through online mode. Last Date to fill the DU JAT Online application form will be the 2nd week of June 2018.  The application fee of DU JAT Admission Form 2018 is given below:

Exam Pattern

The exam pattern is given here:

• Exam Mode: The DU JAT Exam will be held through offline mode (Pen-Paper Based).
• Duration of Exam: The duration of the examination will be two hours.
• No. of Questions: 100 questions will be asked in the exam.
• Total Marks: The question paper will be of 300 marks.
• Marking Scheme: For each correct response, 3 marks will be allotted to the candidates.
• Negative Marking: 1 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.

DU JAT Syllabus

The syllabus will be composed of Business & General Awareness, Reasoning & Analytical Ability, General English & Quantitative Ability.

DU JAT Admit Card 2018

The DU JAT 2018 admit card will be issued in the first week of June 2018 through online mode. Candidates have to bring a passport size photograph & a valid ID proof (in original). The admit card contain Candidates Name, Roll Number, Category, Venue of the Exam, Exam Timing, Photograph, etc.

DU JAT Result 2018

Candidates can check the DU JAT 2018 result through online mode from the first week of July 2017. DU JAT 2017 Answer Key will be released along with the result. On the basis of rank list, candidates will be called for the counselling.

Counselling

Candidates can appear in the counselling process from the fourth week of August 2018. Only candidates those names will shortlisted in the rank list appear in the counselling. Candidates final selection will be based on the marks scored in the entrance exam and personal interview/group discussion.
